What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small text file that a website saves on your device when you visit. The next time you come back, the site can read that file and remember things like which language you prefer or whether you've already dismissed a banner. Some cookies are essential for the website to work; others help us understand how the site is used so we can improve it.

The cookies we use

This site uses two categories of cookie, summarised below.

Strictly necessary

• PHPSESSID — used to maintain your session while you fill in the contact form, so we can prevent cross-site form submission attacks. Expires when you close the browser.
• tb_consent_v1 — a small flag stored in your browser's local storage that records whether you have already chosen to accept or reject optional cookies. So the banner doesn't keep showing up.

Optional — analytics

We do not currently load any third-party analytics tools. If we add any (for example, a privacy-friendly site analytics product) in the future, they will only be loaded after you have accepted optional cookies, and they will be listed here.

Changing your preferences

You can change your cookie preferences at any time by clicking the gear icon at the corner of the screen, or by selecting "Cookie preferences" in the footer of any page. You can also clear cookies and local storage from your browser settings — the banner will reappear on your next visit.

Browser-level controls

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies entirely. If you block strictly necessary cookies, parts of this site (the contact form in particular) will not work as expected. Help pages for the main browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge.
